andrei zadorine

godfather

After the Erice series, the Nebo Gallery in Kyiv proposed that Andrei Zadorine develop a similar series based on Martin Scorcese’s film The Godfather. At first, this seemed to be a more difficult and less natural task, as the film was thematically far removed from Zadorine’s other work. Because it was such a classic, many of the familiar scenes didn’t feel fresh enough to be visually reworked.

However, Zadorine decided to look at the film again, now through the lens of his own childhood memories. With this new perspective, he found the atmosphere and visual connection he needed. The result was a smaller series of seven small paintings.

All paintings are 80×130 cm, 2018
